Fetal Dopplers have been called many different names, including
fetal monitors, baby heartbeat monitors, baby doppler monitors,
and more. All of these names refer to the same device, the Fetal
Doppler.
Dopplers have been used extensively in routine prenatal care for
the last 30 years. Many scientific studies have been carried out
on their use. No adverse effects to either mother or baby have ever
been reported.
Our Dopplers are similar or identical to the units used by doctors
and midwives. They are manufactured in the US to the highest safety
standards. Our dopplers use ultrasound technology which enables
you to hear your baby's heartbeat as early as ten weeks of pregnancy.
How do Fetal Doppler Monitors Work?
The doppler issues low-frequency ultrasound waves which 'bounce
off' tissue and blood in the body, and this information is translated
into the sounds of baby's heartbeat.
Fetal Dopplers differ from ultrasound. Fetal Dopplers use a power
output which is hundreds of times lower than that of the ultrasound
scanners used to show picture images of your baby.
